Benito Mussolini was a major totalitarian leader following WW1 and during WW2, along with Hitler and Tojo. In 1919 Mussolini and other WW1 veterans formed the National Fascist Party. However it wasn't until 1921 that the fascist party was established in Italy. Mussolini helped stabilize Italy's economy tremendously. He did this by taking over the roles of all government officers. Mussolini eventually forced all of Italy into a fascist state and started calling himself "El Duce." Mussolini was very successful in making Italy a totalitarian and somewhat powerful country.
Adolf Hitler was the leader of the National Socialist German Worker's Party more commonly known as the Nazi party. Hitler and his Nazi party came to power in 1933 when he became German prime minister. Hitler put an end to Germany's democratic Weimar government. He established the third German Empire, otherwise known as the Third Reich. He believed he could create the "Perfect race" of people who had blond hair and blue eye. (Ironically he had dark hair and green eyes.) Hitler was best known for his extreme prejudice against Jewish people and responsible for the inhumane torture and genocide of millions of Jews.
Hideki Tojo was the man directly responsible for the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was very supportive of Nazi Germany, but he was very unsupportive and even fearful of Stalin and his plans for Soviet Union. Tojo had a history of being involved in the military and became prime minister of Japan in 1941. When he was first in office he tried to maintain peace with America. After negotiating and being assured that a peaceful agreement with America was possible, he ruined any chance of peace when he launched the attack on Pearl Harbor. When he became aware that Japan could not win the war he resigned from office. In 1945 the U.S military arrested Tojo.
